Lambert Named EPYSA Coach of the Year

The Galaxy is filled with many stars – the brightest among them is the head coach, Chris Lambert, who was named 2010 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Association (EPYSA) Coach of the Year – Girls Competitive.

“The most rewarding aspect of coaching is seeing players grasp a concept or technical skill and apply it in a game situation and see that look on their face when they know that they got it,” said Lambert. “When kids get inspired they can do great things! I am fortunate to be able to experience such events almost daily.”

Lambert has been coaching soccer for 12 years. He is currently the head coach of the U11 Aston Galaxy girls’ team. Like many coaches before him, Lambert got hooked on coaching when he started with his children.

“I wouldn’t just pick any coach to be coach of the year, only the coach that deserves it, which is my coach, Coach Chris,” wrote one member of the Galaxy. “He has patience with us when we talk and makes us work hard to achieve our goals. So far, we won two tournaments with his awesome coaching. He also has confidence in us. He doesn’t care about the score just if we play well and have fun.

“He takes time from his day to help us practice. He keeps our team connected, even from six different schools. He keeps us a team no matter what – he tries and that’s the most important part of a team!”

Galaxy Assistant Coach Keith Warren says that Chris inspires him to read about new drills and strategy, learn more about the game and be a better assistant coach. “He is always open for suggestions during the game and willing to try different things.”

“Soccer helps to build strong personal relationships between players, families and the community at large. It is awesome to be a little piece of that giant puzzle,” said Lambert.
