Aston Strikers Dominate at Hunter Jack Walsh Tournament
The AYSA Strikers played in the 20th Annual Hunter Jack Walsh Memorial Tournament on Columbus Day weekend. Our first game was against the Springfield Strikers, which resulted in an Aston Strikers, 6–0 victory. Our second game of the day was against the Hunter Wave. It was a well played game that resulted in an Aston Strikers, 3-0 victory. Our 3rd game and first game on Sunday was against the Whitpain Wallabes. This was an exciting game that resulted in an Aston Strikers, 3-1 victory.
After winning our first 3 games, we qualified for the Championship game against the Huntington Valley Rockets who had won their Division. At half-time the Strikers were leading 1-0 against a very physical Rockets team. With the Strikers stingy defense and speed on offense, we were able to wear the Rockets down. At the final whistle, the Strikers had won their first tournament championship 4–0. 4 games, 16 goals scored 1 goal scored against and our first championship was a perfect ending to an almost perfect weekend.
