AYSA Goes Global

In October, Eric Segool (U10 Arsenal and U15 Galaxy coach) was part of a group of people who went to El Salvador to do some work at an orphanage there.  There are about 20 boys that live there full time and another 50 kids that attend an after school program run by the orphanage.  Eric had approached AYSA to see if there was anything we would be able to provide to the kids there.  AYSA was able to donate a bunch of reversible jerseys for Eric and his team to take with them and give to the children.  There is a link to the photo gallery below of pictures Eric and his team took while they were there.  Seems like the kids enjoyed their new jerseys.  Thanks to Eric for thinking about asking us to help out and for providing the pictures.  Well Done Eric!!

U12 Strikers

The Strikers played in the Deptford Fall Fest Tournament.  This was the team’s first time playing 11 v 11.  They put us in the Gold A Division against some pretty good teams.  We lost our first game 0-2 to the TBAA Cougars.  Our second game against the Tarkill Tornados we were behind 0-2 at the half.  We came back and won 3-2.  Our last game, we beat Deptford Attack 3-2 securing a second place finish and nice trophies for the all the girls.

Special Needs with Special Guests!

On Sunday, October 7, our Special Needs players were surprised with a vist from 3 Philadelphia Union players.  Gabriel Farfan, Michael Farfan, and Krystian Witkowski, fresh off their 1-0 win against New England the previous night, joined our Special Needs players and their volunteer buddies for a great afternoon of soccer.  The kids enjoyed talking with the players, getting photos taken and interacting with the Union players.  The players enjoyed themselves as well as you can see by Gabe’s tweet after the session.  Thanks to the players and Jason Freedman from the Union for making this happen!  Thanks also to the volunteer buddies who come from our own soccer programs.  And a big thanks to Sue Vaughan and Danielle Albrecht for running the program!!
